Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
One thing that’s important to know about working with me is that I’m a direct therapist. My role isn’t just to listen—it’s to help you see patterns, challenge thinking that may be keeping you stuck, and support you in making meaningful changes. I believe therapy works best when there’s honesty, accountability, and a willingness to look at things from a new perspective.
If you’re looking for a space where you can be thoughtfully challenged while still feeling respected and supported, we’ll likely work well together. Growth isn’t always comfortable, but it often happens when we’re willing to face difficult truths and move forward with intention.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences have deeply shaped the way I show up for my clients. I understand what it means to face adversity and rebuild after difficult circumstances. As a survivor of domestic violence and someone who has navigated life as a single parent, I have a deep respect for the strength it takes to keep moving forward even when life feels overwhelming.
These experiences allow me to connect with clients in an authentic and compassionate way. I know that healing is often a process that requires courage, honesty, and support. My faith as a Christian also shapes the way I view resilience, forgiveness, and personal growth, and I respect each client’s individual beliefs and values as we work together.
My journey has taught me that people are more than the hardest moments of their lives. That perspective guides my work every day as I support clients in building confidence, developing healthier relationships, and creating a life that reflects their strength, purpose, and potential.
What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?
Success in therapy often looks like gaining clarity and understanding about your life, your patterns, and the choices in front of you. Many clients begin therapy feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what to do next. Progress often starts when things begin to make sense and the “light bulb” moment happens.
That moment of insight can be powerful because it allows you to step back, see your situation more clearly, and recognize that you have the ability to choose how you respond moving forward. Therapy helps create space for that awareness, while also providing practical tools to support healthier decisions and lasting change.
You’ll know you’re making progress when you begin to respond to life with more confidence, clarity, and intention rather than feeling stuck or controlled by old patterns.

Education
Wayne State University, Master of Social Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, 2014 — My graduate training placed a strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps people understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this training, I learned practical strategies for helping clients identify negative or unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be keeping them stuck, and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.
CBT is a structured and practical form of therapy that focuses on building awareness and creating real, meaningful change. Rather than only talking about problems, we work together to examine patterns, develop new perspectives, and practice tools that can be applied in everyday life. This approach can be especially helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, high stress, and difficult life transitions.
My training in CBT continues to guide the way I work with clients. The goal is to help people gain clarity, strengthen emotional resilience, and feel more confident in their ability to navigate challenges and make intentional choices about their lives.
Work HistoryMy work as a therapist has been shaped by years of supporting individuals and families through difficult and often complex life experiences. Earlier in my career, I worked in Child Protective Services and later provided court-ordered therapy for children placed in foster care. In those roles, I worked closely with young people and families navigating trauma, family disruption, and the emotional impact of abuse and neglect. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of how early experiences and family environments can shape a person’s sense of safety, trust, and identity.
I also worked in community mental health, where I supported individuals facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life stressors. These settings strengthened my ability to meet people where they are and provide steady, practical support during difficult seasons of life.
In addition to my professional training, I bring a personal understanding of resilience as a survivor of domestic violence. That experience has strengthened my commitment to helping others who have lived through similar situations find safety, healing, and a renewed sense of strength.
Today, I continue this work through my private practice and my role in employee assistance counseling, helping individuals heal from trauma, navigate relationship challenges, and rebuild their lives with clarity and confidence.
