Education
Wayne State University, Master of Social Work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, 2014 — My graduate training placed a strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps people understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this training, I learned practical strategies for helping clients identify negative or unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be keeping them stuck, and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges. CBT is a structured and practical form of therapy that focuses on building awareness and creating real, meaningful change. Rather than only talking about problems, we work together to examine patterns, develop new perspectives, and practice tools that can be applied in everyday life. This approach can be especially helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, high stress, and difficult life transitions. My training in CBT continues to guide the way I work with clients. The goal is to help people gain clarity, strengthen emotional resilience, and feel more confident in their ability to navigate challenges and make intentional choices about their lives.
Work HistoryMy work as a therapist has been shaped by years of supporting individuals and families through difficult and often complex life experiences. Earlier in my career, I worked in Child Protective Services and later provided court-ordered therapy for children placed in foster care. In those roles, I worked closely with young people and families navigating trauma, family disruption, and the emotional impact of abuse and neglect. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of how early experiences and family environments can shape a person’s sense of safety, trust, and identity. I also worked in community mental health, where I supported individuals facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life stressors. These settings strengthened my ability to meet people where they are and provide steady, practical support during difficult seasons of life. In addition to my professional training, I bring a personal understanding of resilience as a survivor of domestic violence. That experience has strengthened my commitment to helping others who have lived through similar situations find safety, healing, and a renewed sense of strength. Today, I continue this work through my private practice and my role in employee assistance counseling, helping individuals heal from trauma, navigate relationship challenges, and rebuild their lives with clarity and confidence.
