Learn more about my:
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I have a very informal style. I prefer to have genuine conversations which means I share information about myself as I have to practice what I preach the same as every other human does. I use humor in my practice as I believe it's important to be able to laugh at ourselves while honoring our struggle.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My personality completely influences how I work. I admit it...I'm a raging Type A, perfectionistic, caregiver personality. I have always been this and I always will be. I have found lots of helpful aspects of my personality and my journey has included becoming more aware and challenging of the hurtful aspects of my personality. While I do not experience the world as I did when I was younger, I am still the same person. I've learned to honor and reality check my personality which I think is the avenue to take in learning how to completely embrace your true self.
How does collaboration with other providers play into your work?
I have worked independently for many years but I have always sought out consultation from my colleagues. If anyone feels they have "mastered" their work, or their life, that's when to be concerned. There is always more I can learn which allows me to grow personally and professionally. Believing you know it all is not quality and isn't what I want to bring into my work. I welcome collaboration and being given alternative perspectives to help me gain a larger knowledge.

Work History
I earned a Bachelor's in Psychology in 1999. That landed me a job in day care and then eventually within the Developmental Disability system. I was a resource coordinator and intake coordinator for about 5 years before I returned to school for my graduate journey. I earned a MA in counseling psychology in 2005 and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2010. I held externships in community mental health, addiction services, forensic setting, and inpatient settings. Upon leaving graduate school, I worked in community mental health for 6 years with 5 of those being with adult with mental health diagnosis as well as a developmental/intellectual disability diagnosis. From there I moved into integrated healthcare where I was located within primary care settings assisting physicians and members from OBGYN, to pediatrics, to family/internal medicine, to specialized intense medial needs, and those impacted by interpersonal violence. I chose to move into full-time private practice in June 2024 to move closer to connecting to the work which brought me into the field and my passion to help normalize mental health care and teach people how to empower themselves through therapy.
