Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist began with showing up for my children and my family in a more intentional way. That commitment gave me a deeper sense of purpose and pushed me to grow personally and professionally. During that time, I also began volunteering, which placed me around many like-minded individuals who encouraged me to continue my journey. Their support, combined with my desire to help others in meaningful ways, inspired me to pursue the counseling profession and build a path centered on service, growth, and being present for the people I care about most.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
One thing I wish people knew about therapy is that it is not only for when something has gone wrong. When I meet a client, I help them understand that therapy can be a natural part of life from start to finish, from birth to death and everything in between. It can support us through change, growth, relationships, loss, stress, self-discovery, and the everyday challenges that come with being human. Therapy is not just about crisis. It is also about understanding yourself, learning new ways to cope, and creating a healthier path forward.
What’s the most profound, insightful, or interesting thing you’ve learned as a mental health professional?
One of the most profound things I have learned as a mental health professional is the value of being myself while assisting a client. A genuine experience rooted in openness and honesty helps create a space where the client has less reason to feel guarded, judged, or misunderstood. I have found that authenticity can be just as important as technique, because when people feel they are being met by a real person, not just a professional role, it can strengthen trust, safety, and the healing process.

Education
University of Phoenix, Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, 2021 — I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix, a graduate degree focused on preparing professionals to support individuals facing emotional, behavioral, relational, and mental health challenges through assessment, counseling techniques, treatment planning, ethics, human development, multicultural awareness, and evidence-based clinical practice, while developing advanced training in counseling theory, mental health assessment, and support for diverse individuals through meaningful emotional and behavioral change.
While completing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix, I became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), an experience that helped lay the leadership foundation for my later involvement with Black Leaders Worldwide and Who’s Who recognition, further expanding my commitment to professional excellence, service, and meaningful impact.
Work HistoryWith more than three decades of professional experience, I have built a career rooted in service, leadership, personal growth, and purpose. After 31 years with Ford Motor Company, I transitioned my lifelong commitment to helping others into counseling, coaching, and consulting. My work includes supporting individuals, couples, families, and professionals through mental health counseling, personal development, relationship insight, and business guidance. Along the way, I have also contributed to schools and community-based settings, which strengthened my passion for education, empowerment, and meaningful change. Just as important, my focus has been on being a father and being intentionally present with my family, allowing that role to help shape my sense of purpose, responsibility, and the way I show up for others. Today, I bring together real-world experience, clinical training, and entrepreneurial vision to help people and organizations move toward healthier, more purposeful lives.
