Education
University of North Alabama, Master of Arts, Community Counseling, 2015 — Masters degree with personal model of counseling PCT and CBT. Consisted of a double internship 600 hours with a practicum of 100 hours. Internship completed at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, Mississippi.
Work HistoryI have been working as a therapist since 2014 beginning with an in-patient setting at the Huntsville Hospital which involved counseling that was required for a practicum at the University of North Alabama. I also completed both my internships in inpatient settings working with the severely mentally ill. After I graduated, I worked for one year in substance abuse therapy then began working in more mental health related employment. I have had employment as an in-home therapist for several years and worked as in community mental health in an office environment during Covid 19. It was in this environment that my virtual therapy skills were developed as therapy that was virtual was all that was available during the beginnings of Covid 19. I consider myself a more integrative therapist, yet i have focused for many years on cognitive behavioral and person-centered therapy. I also have faith-based counseling experience and an nonjudgmental regardless of any faith professed. I have been conducting virtual therapy sessions as a licensed professional counselor for over three years and find that virtual therapy is a good fit for most but not all persons.
