Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
The most important thing to me as your therapist is that it feels like therapy is genuinely helpful to you - while it can be great to have a space to just vent, I'm hopeful that your time spent with me can make a tangible difference in improving your life. I believe in delivering truth and accountability with compassion; this sometimes means that I may give direct feedback when I feel you need to hear it.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
We wouldn't expect top performance from athletes with no coaches - the same goes for people in life. You might not necessarily need therapy and maybe could figure out stuff on your own eventually, but hiring a therapist can get you there much faster and with less struggle so why not get the help.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
The most important part of the therapy relationship is that you feel that you can trust me. That means that our personalities can jive enough that we can get to know and like one another and that we both feel that we hold mutual respect for one another. I may be the expert in therapy but you are the expert in you, so the therapy relationship should feel collaborative.

Education
Chaminade University of Honolulu, Master of Science in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, 2019 — Completed my graduate master's of science in counseling psychology degree at Chaminade University of Honolulu with emphasis in marriage and family therapy.
Work HistoryI've worked in mental health for over 11 years, first as a social worker in the community (primarily in Honolulu) and for the past 7 years as a therapist. I began my therapy journey working primarily with children and teens in the Oakland and Berkeley school systems in California providing individual, family, and school-based therapy. Beginning my work with kids allowed me to see the value of working with systems and brought my attention to the need for couples work to support the foundational relationships in families. Since I opened my private practice I've focused more on couples work, particularly on working with parents to strengthen families.
