Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
Each session begins with three essential questions: What is working well? What are you currently worried about? What needs to change? The first session will focus on getting answers to those questions so that I can get a good idea of what brought you to therapy in the first place and what has or has not worked well for you in the past. If this is your first time in therapy, it is completely normal to feel nervous about opening up to a new person, but rest assured that I am here to support you and help you feel as comfortable as possible so that we can work on addressing the issue at hand.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
I have always seen therapy as a partnership between me and the client, though ultimately it is about what the client feels is not working well and needs to change. The first session will focus on developing those goals together so that we have a path to success. During each following session, we will check in to see how much progress you feel has been made towards achieving those goals. Of course the path to success is always likely to change and those goals can evolve over time as you gain new insights, so we will work to adapt that plan as needed so that you feel like each session is productive and helpful.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
I believe that trust is a key component of the therapeutic relationship. In order for positive and meaningful change to occur, you should be able to trust that I have your best interests in mind, that what we discuss in therapy will stay between us, and that I will do all I can to make you feel heard, understood, and supported.

Work HistoryI was initially drawn to the field of psychology because I was always fascinated by the mental processes that lead people to think and act the way they do. It took me a couple of years after finishing college to figure out what exactly I wanted to do with my degree and education, but I had always enjoyed working in customer service and directly interacting with people, so I decided to work towards becoming a therapist. Going to graduate school for counseling and also working as a social worker for over a decade has led me to work with all kinds of people with their own unique backgrounds, outlooks on life, and presenting issues. I learned how to truly understand someone's view of the world and the issues they were dealing with so that I could work with them on how best to help address those issues.
