Work HistoryI began my social work journey 20+ years ago when I became a public school educator, I just didn't realize it at the time. I learned very quickly that what I taught mattered little and how I cared mattered most. I knew students couldn't learn when their basic safety/needs weren't met. When I felt that I was no longer as effective as I hoped because what students needed was beyond my scope of practice, I decided to leave teaching and get my Master's in Social Work from Boston University in 2016. I entered internships that were entirely different than where I had worked before. The most profound experience was working in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation outpatient mental health clinic. This is how I started my trauma journey. I have since become Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained and utilize a multitude of additional treatment modalities, such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Families Systems, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Motivational Interviewing. In addition to working in schools and community mental health clinics, I started my own private practice called Blooming Lotus Psychotherapy. I work predominantly with adults 18+. My clients are struggling anxiety, depression, PTSD, life transitions, work/life balance, and stress. I employ a warm, non-judgemental, holistic approach to healing.
