Education
University of Chicago, Master of Arts, Clinical Social Work, 1996 — University of Chicago asks that each student choose an administrative or clinical track. If a clinical track is chosen, the student must demonstrate proficiency in a theoretical model (cognitive, psychodynamic, family systems, etc,) before they can successfully graduate. The idea was to ensure that clinicians would expose themselves to different theoretical models and then select a model they would master and excel in. I chose cognitive behavioral therapy. I like this model because it's evidenced-based, works for all disorders and all ages, and works well with medication.
Work HistoryIn the last 25 years, my career has taken me to the following settings: in and outpatient psych; hospital ER; community mental health; assisted living; short-term rehab; residential & foster care for teens; group homes for intellectually disabled; and adult day programs for street homeless. Over this time, I have witnessed many people struggling. I worked with victims of trauma including torture survivors, rape and incest survivors, adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems. I have also worked with individuals with mood disorders, personality disorders and individuals who are neurodiverse. My experience as Chief Operating Officer of a large agency helps me support women as they navigate their careers. I understand the complexities of business and fully support women thriving and flourishing in their chosen profession.
