Under Clinical Supervision

Ms. Suzanne Rischard, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, 95119 is practicing under the supervision of Kemberly Edwards (Texas, LPC-S, 63723) at Private Pratice.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What does a first session with you look like?

I feel it is very important to meet you where you are emotionally, with no expectations of where you should be. I understand that first sessions can make you feel like there's pressure to behave a certain way. My approach is to be adaptable to your needs and help you feel at ease. Some clients aren't comfortable immediately talking about what is going on in their lives or opening up about trauma with a stranger. If that's you, the first session can be rapport building where I learn about your interests, hobbies, and important people in your life. For others, who have been waiting so long to tell their stories, we can jump straight into doing the work.

What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?

Success in therapy can look different for everyone, and it's a journey that is unique to you. It's not always a straight path, but there are some signs you can look for to know that you're making progress. Firstly, you might notice changes in how you feel and think. Perhaps you're finding it easier to manage stress or anxiety, or you're feeling more hopeful and positive about the future. You might also become more aware of your thoughts and behaviors, and start to understand yourself better. Another sign of progress is seeing improvements in your relationships. You might find that you're communicating more effectively, setting healthier boundaries, or feeling more connected to the people in your life. Success in therapy can also mean achieving the specific goals you set with your therapist. These goals could be anything from overcoming a particular fear, to developing new coping skills, to making a big life decision. Celebrating these milestones, no matter how small they may seem, is a great way to acknowledge your hard work and progress. Remember, progress in therapy isn't always about feeling good all the time. It's about making meaningful changes and growing in ways that improve your overall well-being. It's okay to have ups and downs along the way – each step is a valuable part of your journey. my job is to support you and help you recognize these signs of success. Trust in the process, and be kind to yourself as you continue to grow and heal.
