Education
The Institute of Graduate Clinical Psychology Widener University, Doctorate of Psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, forensic psychology, 2019 — My primary research focus is on harmful "psychological" treatments such as behavior modification programs, wilderness programs, conversion therapy, and the "troubled teen industry." I also have specialized training from the Beck Institute in Recovery Oriented Cognitive Therapy. I am extremely passionate about accurate mental health education and de-stigmatizing mental health concerns.
Work HistoryMy psychological expertise is in adult diagnosis and treatment. As a graduate student I worked extensively evaluating people at their home and in the hospital to clarify diagnoses, connect them to appropriate interventions, and (often most importantly) better understand themselves. I was also trained by the Beck Institute, in Philadelphia, PA - The Home of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy. I have since had the opportunity to train others and present on related topics including the treatment of severe mental illness including schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. I worked inpatient with veterans and civilians for a combined five years in which I was in charge of the development and implementation of group programing. Group programming is an underutilized tool that allows people to connect over shared experience or heal unhelpful relational patterns. Another major area of specialization consists of my work over for the last nine years in addiction including the science of addiction, the causes and treatment of addiction, as well as associated problems many of us experience at some point in our lives including anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, issues in identity development, and poor life satisfaction. I offer consultation to families and health care providers on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
