Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I provide a deeply warm, empathetic, and collaborative therapeutic environment. My focus is helping you work through your struggles in real time as much as possible, offering active and responsive support. I know life's stressors and relationship challenges do not stop when the hour ends.To deeply support sustainable growth and lifetime coping skills, established clients have direct access to me for seamless, non-emergency out-of-session communication, alongside the priority ability to schedule same-day or next-day urgent appointments as availability permits.
What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?
Success in the therapy looks like sustainable relief, true replenishment, and a return to feeling balanced and valued. You will know you are making progress when you shift out of reactive 'survival mode' and into proactive, intentional self-care. For individuals dealing with burnout or anxiety, progress means protecting your needs and carving out the space to consistently rejuvenate and refresh before reaching empty. For couples, progress looks like safely lowering your defenses so you can actively reconnect, rebuild trust, and restore deep, meaningful communication in real time.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is grounded, responsive, and deeply respectful of your unique worth. Whether we are focusing on relationship strains or navigating life's heaviest moments when you feel overwhelmed or burnt out, our sessions are a safe and judgment-free zone. I blend decades of clinical insight with real-time, actionable tools so that you can step away from survival mode and back into a life where you feel balanced.

Work HistoryWith over 25 years of clinical experience, including more than 20 years in private practice, I offer a warm, therapeutic approach to helping clients with everyday life stressors as well as complex challenges. While I have extensive experience working across the lifespan—from preschoolers to older adults—my current practice focuses exclusively on helping adult individuals and couples.
Prior to establishing my private practice, I honed my clinical skills in diverse, high-intensity settings, including community mental health, a domestic violence shelter, and a Veterans Administration (VA) outpatient mental health program. I am the Founder of Dixon Professional Counseling Services, LLC and in the early years of my private practice, I worked extensively with children and families navigating Child Protective Services, as well as the foster care and adoption systems.
This deep, decades-long background provides me with a unique lens for my current specialization. Today, I work extensively with individuals dealing with family and work-related stressors, anxiety, and profound burnout, as well as couples struggling with poor communication, financial strains, intimacy disconnects, and infidelity.
