Under Clinical Supervision

Tanesia Goodrich, Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW-21070 is practicing under the supervision of Gina Weisman (Arizona, LMFT, LMFT-15618) at Thrive Therapy.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

I look at all of the people that I have worked with and they all have their own individual story. Their stories help me to look at their experiences, challenges, victories and emotions and normalize the rollercoaster we call life. We are all human and have experiences that shape us, I treat each client as the owner of their own story with an emphasis on creating new chapters that encourages individual to reach their full potential.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I look at therapy as a team effort, meaning it’s both of us coming together to help you reach your goals. I prefer therapeutic relationships to feel more relaxed, meaning it’s okay to laugh at ourselves, cry or whatever is the best way to feel, process and express those emotions we have. I also like to fit the needs of each client. Some like to use therapy to vent and process things that are hard to make sense of, others use it to seek solutions and steps they would like to take to make some behavioral changes. Others may just want to learn about themselves and shift their perspectives, and maybe you want a combination of all those things!

Work History

I started with case management experience in working with those experiencing chronic homelessness get their basic needs met and achieve self-sufficiency. I furthered my experience by working with and treating adults experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or those who are diagnosed SMI. I have experience working in community health at a rehabilitation center as a group and individual therapist working with those overcoming substance abuse and addiction. I also worked as a group counselor facilitating art therapy for youth ages 6-17.
