Work HistoryOver the years, my work has consistently centered on supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, anxiety, mood challenges, and major life transitions—especially Black youth, marginalized communities, and emerging adults navigating high-stress systems. I began developing my expertise while working closely with youth impacted by foster care systems. In those settings, I learned quickly that behavior always tells a story. Many of the young people I worked with had experienced layered trauma—community violence, family disruption, systemic racism, school exclusion. Supporting them required more than surface-level coping skills. This is where my passion for combining healing with empowerment really took root. Through my involvement with the SAFE Spaces initiative at NYU Steinhardt’s RISE Lab (in collaboration with NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services), I strengthened my ability to think both clinically and systemically. I contributed to data collection. That experience sharpened my understanding of how environments—schools, courts, child welfare systems—impact mental health. It also reinforced my commitment to culturally responsive and justice-oriented care. As a mental health clinician, I’ve worked with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions. My approach integrates evidence-based tools with warmth and authenticity. I often draw from cognitive and behavioral strategies to help clients identify patterns in their thoughts and behaviors, while also incorporating strengths-based and positive psychology approaches to build meaning, purpose, and hope; not just symptom reduction. I believe healing is not only about surviving, but about flourishing. Because of my background in diversity, equity, and inclusion work, I am especially attuned to how race, identity, and systemic stress impact mental health. I have worked intentionally to support Black clients and other marginalized individuals in spaces where they may not always feel seen or understood. I aim to create a therapeutic environment where clients do not have to explain or defend their lived experiences. My role is to help expand and build tools, foster insight, and support clients in building lives that feel aligned, empowered, and meaningful.
