In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences have made me care a lot about belonging, loneliness, and what it feels like to feel out of place. I know you can be surrounded by others and still feel alone. I also know it can be hard to ask for support when you are used to getting through things by yourself.
That shapes the way I work. I try to offer a space where we can slow things down and make room for parts of you that may not have had much room elsewhere.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Therapy does not have to be a place where you perform or say things perfectly. If something feels off, confusing, too fast, or not helpful, you can say that.
You are allowed to ask questions, change topics, disagree, or tell me when something does not feel right. Those moments do not ruin therapy. They can help us understand what you need and make the space feel safer and more useful to you.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
I usually start by asking what has been hardest lately, what made you reach out now, and what you wish felt different. Sometimes people know what they want to work on. Sometimes they just know they feel anxious, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they do not want to keep repeating.
We do not have to figure it all out in the first session. At first, we can get a clearer sense of what has been going on, what keeps repeating, and what feels hard to say out loud.
Over time, we can name what we are working toward together. That might be feeling less overwhelmed, understanding your relationships better, trusting yourself more, setting boundaries, or feeling more connected to yourself and the people in your life. I also like to check in as we go, because goals can change once therapy starts helping you see things more clearly.
