What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

I have experienced the difficulty of coping when everyday tasks are overwhelming and exhausting. I have found even taking a shower is a monumental task. And I have been exhausted from acting "normal." Not being able to do these “simple” things created a spiral of shame and guilt and felt that no one understood what I was going through. I want to meet people who are on this path to support them in their journey.

In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?

I believe that we all experience the world differently. We’re each unique mixtures of race, gender, sexuality, faith, ability, and everything that completes the sentence “I am...” I care about your uniqueness and work to understand you within the context of who you are. I am not here to fix you. I am here to listen and learn from you while guiding you to insight and hope.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I listen first. I believe that everyone needs someone who focuses just on their words and experiences without judgement or an agenda. Together we'll learn about your thought and behavior patterns and how to change those while not giving up what makes you "you". Along the way, we'll challenge thoughts, explore the source of your feelings, and learn about how the brain works and changes.
