What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

I have been a mental health advocate for over a decade. I’ve served the homeless Veteran community and the Military community as a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response victim advocate and suicide prevention and postvention facilator. I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I currently practice therapy in the North Virginia area. I am dedicated to serving the Afro/Latinx and Veteran communities as well as generational trauma cycle-breakers. I became a therapist because I know firsthand how culture, family, social environment and trauma each play a role in a client’s healing journey. My goal is to provide a safe space for all my clients. A space of unconditional positive regard— meaning that I want my clients to feel heard, safe and respected. In addition, I leverage psychoeducation by teaching coping mechanisms and a variety of counseling techniques that best meet the needs of my clients. It would be an honor to support you in your therapy journey. I have experience working with teenagers, adults, and couples.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

Mental health is wealth and, of course, health. I firmly believe that if we don’t care for our minds, our other self-care pillars will also decay. I want to enable clients to prioritize their mental health so they can be truly happy and balance their overall health. My hope for counseling is to guide my clients and be a part of their healing process. Remember, this is a journey.
