Work History

December 2023 to present SkyTherapist October 2023 to present Spring Health, Inc. Talkspace April 2020 to present BetterHelp, Inc. Through 1099 contracts with each of the above listed online platforms, I provide therapeutic services remotely to clients aged child and up through asynchronous messaging, as well as live chat, phone, and video sessions. I have found that summers tend to be leaner in the way of caseload, but then pick up again in fall when school resumes. However, in the fall of 2023, that did not occur. This led me to take the appropriate steps to expand my practice to include the addition of several other platforms to avoid this occurring in the future. In addition to those listed above, I am also registered and credentialed on the following sites, however I am not carrying a caseload with them currently: Rula, Tava, Sondermind, and Headway. September 2023 to January 2025 Brightside Health See above description, as I provided the same online services here as well. August 2014 to March 2021; April 2008 to October 2009: Lead In-Home Therapist Shorehaven Behavioral Health, Inc. Brown Deer, WI Shorehaven originated and is based in the Milwaukee, WI area. Due to increased demand and need, the company expanded into Northeastern Wisconsin in early 2008. I was the first Lead In-Home Therapist hired in the newly expanded area. In that capacity I provided in-home psychotherapy to individuals and families throughout the Northeast region. This included oversight and supervision with second therapists assigned to mutual cases. Initially, I worked part time with the intention of becoming full time. However, after 18 months, this position was not increasing to full time and resigned to remain full time at Door County. In early summer 2014, the announcement for full time work with Shorehaven in the Northeast region emerged, and I returned to employment there, starting in August 2014. Just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, I had applied to BetterHelp to supplement my income. Once the shutdown began, many parents of my existing clients suspended treatment, in an effort to keep themselves healthy. Unfortunately, even with the eventual addition of telehealth as an option to continue to provide treatment in my position with Shorehaven, my caseload did not recover as 2020 went on, and so I increased my work with BetterHelp. Eventually, my caseload with BetterHelp reached full time status, and I found that I was able to work fully remotely and so resigned from my position with Shorehaven. March 2001 to September 2014: Staff Psychotherapist/Co-Occurring Disorders Therapist Door County Department of Human Services Sturgeon Bay, WI My responsibilities with the Department evolved over the course of time. My original assignment was to provide outpatient psychotherapy services to the Citizens of Door County, specifically individual, group, couples, and family therapy. I also served as a 24-hour crisis responder on a rotating team. Over time, several other responsibilities were either added, or I offered to complete them, to promote the team approach throughout my employment. Other duties I took on included coordinating the on-call schedule and the annual Department crisis training. I followed up on emergency hospitalizations and provided intake services to those determined to be at a higher level of need or risk either due to recent hospitalization, risk of being hospitalized, or deemed to have dangerous potential, and oversaw 90-day hold-open/settlement agreements and six- and twelve-month civil commitments. I also served as the Door County contact for the Statewide Crisis Network and remain on the planning committee for the Wisconsin Statewide Annual Crisis Conference since 2002. I completed initial telephone screenings on all incoming referrals to the Behavioral Health Treatment Team to determine need regarding the existing wait list, as well as to recommend referral if necessary based on insurance status and/or client-therapist fit. It is in part through my coordination of a County-wide consortium of mental health and substance abuse providers, who met on a quarterly basis, that I was able to make such determinations. I also managed the Staff Psychologist’s schedule and completed all preliminary testing and information gathering leading toward a face-to-face Psychological Evaluation. I had also been responsible for keeping various office forms up to date based on the need and preference of the treatment team as a whole, and also was responsible in part for compliance with DHS 34, 35, and 75 at recertification times and throughout certification periods. Door County had been selected for the 2011-2012 year to participate in the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx), a quality improvement collaborative that works with substance abuse and behavioral health organizations across the Country. I was appointed and served as the Change Leader for Door County’s project during that time. In the summer of 2009, a series of events in my life lead me to the decision to lead a healthier lifestyle. It is at that time that I initiated a healthy diet and exercise regimen into my life, which I have continued since. I later secured certificates in personal training and health coaching in relation to these interests, and have subsequently integrated the teachings from both of those programs, along with the personal knowledge I gained through my own journey, into the treatment of my clients.
