Learn more about my:

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

I was a first responder for 30 years and developed an interest in psychology. My experience in the emergency medical services allowed me to recognize the mind body connection of both my patients, their families, and of course my coworkers. I found that mindset and emotions played a significant role in how people did in a crisis. This lead me to explore and eventually become licensed as a professional counselor.

In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

I am direct and my clients seem to appreciate me getting to the points they want to address, yet sometimes have a difficult time recognizing. I do this through a compassionate lens and I am not afraid to use humor when appropriate.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I have formal education and experience. You most likely have the same. However, my education and experience does not make me the expert on your life. That expertise is yours and yours alone, so collaboration during our time together is important. What brings you to see me are your goals and I view accomplishing those goals like climbing a staircase. Some people take 2 or 3 steps at a time, while others climb their staircase one step at a time. Which ever way you choose to climb your staircase, I will be there each step taken to support your journey to the top of your staircase.

Work History

I have worked in a variety of settings with a variety of both clients and treatment offerings. What does that mean? Well... I have worked in private practice, a high school, and a township human services department as a professional counselor. In each of these settings, I have worked with adolescents, children, adults, families, couples, and groups. I have provided substance abuse counseling, anger management counseling, both in groups and with individuals. I have worked with folks that wanted help addressing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and relationship issues. Currently, I provide Telehealth counseling and coaching through my private practice, specializing in working with first responders, healthcare providers, people dealing with chronic illness, and particularly people with diabetes and parents with children that have diabetes.
