Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
The first session focuses on past counseling experience, events or symptoms you are experiencing at the moment, and building trust by getting to know each other more. We discuss family, education, work in further detail during the second session.
What do you think is the biggest barrier today for people seeking care?
Mental Health information and treatment advice on social media can negatively affect someone's willingness to try counseling. We might believe that our process is going to be similarly to those we hear or read about online. There are some things that can be generalized and applicable to us, but most of the advice is subjective and may not consider our challenges that we need to address. Counseling is geared to provide you with the treatment that is best suited for you and your situation, this can be the biggest barrier since the internet promotes a lot of information more than the need for someone to help you navigate life at your pacing.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Will trying therapy truly make your situation worse? Try it out, if you do not find a counselor that you feel comfortable with - Do not give up! There are a lot of capable counselors out here willing to help you, we are just waiting for you to take the first step.
