Education
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Master of Social Work, Latino Families, 2024
Work History My path began with teaching in 2019. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, the limited counseling resources for my middle school students—who shared a single counselor with the entire middle and high school—became evident. Inspired by my students' suggestions, I created a mental health club to provide a space for connection and de-stressing outside the virtual classroom. This experience, while helping them process their challenges, solidified my desire to become a dedicated resource in the mental health space. During my time in Graduate School, I worked in the nonprofit sector in Austin as a career counselor for trade school and a social worker for families with sickle cell disease. I also had the pleasure of being an intern for Communities in Schools at Perez Elementary and Con Safos Counseling where I decided to stay. I graduated with a Master's of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a concentration in direct practice with Latino families. I am excited to continue working with communities across Texas through Con Safos Counseling as this practice has shown me what it means to center our clients in our care. My focus lies in fostering community healing and empowerment, with a vision to create safe spaces where clients can heal from past traumas and feel empowered to advocate for themselves.
