Education
Sistema Universitario Ana G Mendez, Master of Social Work, Clinical Social Work, 2013 — Clinical Social Work is a distinct branch within the field of social work, focused on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional disturbances, and behavioral challenges. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I employ a diverse array of therapeutic approaches, each carefully tailored to meet the specific needs of my clients. These methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, and Existential Therapy, among others. Each technique is meticulously selected based on its applicability to the particular issues faced by the client, ensuring a highly personalized and effective therapeutic journey. My holistic and adaptive approach enables me to significantly enhance the mental health and overall well-being of my clients, guiding them towards a more fulfilled and balanced life.
Work HistoryWith over 13 years of experience in social work, I have dedicated my career to empowering individuals across diverse settings. My expertise spans providing therapeutic services in transitional homes for the homeless, focusing on empowering residents to lead healthy, independent lives free from substance abuse. I have also worked extensively in communities affected by trauma, delivering therapy to children and their families to alleviate symptoms and promote healing. In addition to these roles, I have extensive experience working with the elderly in Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), providing mental health services to help them adjust to life transitions and changes. This includes crafting strategies to enhance their emotional well-being and helping them navigate the complexities of aging in a supportive environment. In Puerto Rico, I served as a therapist and discharge coordinator in psychiatric hospitals, crafting comprehensive discharge plans to ensure the safety, continuity of care, and emotional and physical well-being of clients. Additionally, I volunteered with the Salvation Army, providing mental health first aid during hurricane emergencies in Puerto Rico. In the United States, my practice includes outpatient therapy, in-home services, and menatl health skill building services. My Outpatient Therapy sessions involve detailed assessments, the development of tailored treatment plans, and therapeutic interventions aimed at reducing symptoms and enhancing clients' relationships with themselves, others, and their environments to ensure mental stability. I also actively support community activities organized by HUB to foster good community relations and raise awareness of available services. My multifaceted approach ensures that I meet the unique needs of each client, fostering significant improvements in their overall well-being and community integration. I am currently developing my own therapy business, Awakening of the Soul Psychotherapy Services, LLC, where I offer comprehensive telehealth services tailored to meet the needs of teens, young adults, adults, and the elderly. My goal is to enhance mental health and enrich lives by equipping my clients with essential coping skills to navigate life's challenges effectively. Through a personalized approach, I ensure that each client receives the support and tools they need to thrive and find greater fulfillment in their daily lives.
