Education
Phillips Graduate Institute of Campbellsville Univ, Master of Arts, Marriage and Family Therapy, 2024 — According to the research on teen mothers and higher education, the statistics are as follows: “Only about 50% of teen mothers receive a high school diploma by age 22” and “Only 2% of teenage mothers complete a college degree before the age of 30”. Being aware of these statistics is important because I got pregnant at age 17 and managed to reach my goal of higher education. Therefore, I am proud to say I have beaten the odds by completing a master’s degree. Facing motherhood at an early age was a significant life event that forced me to take responsibility, commit to sacrificing for my family, and develop my determination to achieve my goal of financial stability. A study by Hernandez and Robia (2017) discussed the factors that contributed to teen mothers’ academic success as young mothers. Reading this study made me reflect on my own experience. I did not want to be part of the negative statistics. I want to continue leading by example and I want my children to learn that if mom can do it then they can do it too.
Work HistoryAre you a single parent? You must be exhausted. I understand how challenging it is to do it all, but you are not alone. I help single parents feel relief from anxiety and stress. I offer therapy in English and Spanish to people of color, LGBTQ+ clients, single mothers, foster youth transitioning to adulthood, couples with a lack of communication skills, and low-income families. I use CBT techniques, Solution-Focused Therapy, a Strength-based approach, and trauma-informed care. Yo ofrezco terapia a personas de color, miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ+, madres solteras, jovenes que estan en transicion del sistema de criaza al mundo adulto, parejas con dificultades de comunicacion y familias latinas de bajos ingresos. I empower, develop resilience, and embrace authenticity through healing and hope. Yo doy poder, desarrollo resiliencia y acepto la autenticidad a través de la curación y la esperanza.
