Education
University of Wyoming, Master of Social Work, 2015 — My passion for social work stems from its unique ability to blend clinical counseling with a deep understanding of the social and environmental factors that shape people’s mental health. Through the Master of Social Work (MSW) program with a counseling focus, I’ve come to appreciate how social work equips practitioners like me to not only address emotional and relational challenges but also to consider the broader systems that influence a person’s well-being. I approach therapy from a holistic and strengths-based perspective, recognizing that mental health doesn’t exist in isolation — it’s deeply connected to relationships, community, culture, and access to support. In working with individuals and couples, I aim to create a space where clients can explore challenges such as communication struggles, trauma, stress, or life transitions, while also uncovering their inherent capacity for growth and resilience. What draws me most to this field is the balance between clinical skill and social justice — the belief that healing happens not just within individuals, but also through addressing the systems that affect them. As a social work–trained therapist, I strive to help people build healthier relationships and more empowered lives, contributing to change that is both personal and lasting.
Work HistoryMy professional journey began in the nursing field, where I worked for many years as a nurse assistant caring for older adults. This experience gave me a deep understanding of compassion, patience, and the emotional side of healing. Working closely with the geriatric population and their families, I learned how to support people not only with their medical needs but also with their feelings, fears, and hopes. I helped individuals cope with change, find moments of joy, and build a sense of acceptance and purpose in their daily lives. As I transitioned into social work, I expanded my experience to working with children and families, including those in the foster care system. I supported children navigating emotional challenges and worked with families to strengthen relationships and build stability. From there, I began working with individuals in community-based programs who faced homelessness, financial hardship, and mental health difficulties. This work helped me develop expertise in crisis intervention, resource connection, and trauma-informed care. In my community health work, I focused on serving Spanish-speaking and undocumented individuals who often faced barriers to accessing mental health care. I provided culturally sensitive support, education, and advocacy to help them understand the importance of emotional well-being and to reduce stigma around mental health. These experiences deepened my commitment to providing inclusive, empowering, and culturally responsive therapy. Now, in my private practice, I bring together all these experiences to support individuals and couples who are seeking greater self-understanding, emotional balance, and healthier relationships. My focus is on helping clients build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with their sense of hope and personal power.
