Education
Texas Wesleyan University, Master of Professional Counseling, Professional Counseling, 2018 — I received my Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University. I studied abroad in London England two summer semesters alongside Dr. Linda Metcalf to learn from the top experts in Solution Focused Brief Therapy Model to help clients discover their best hopes for their desired future. After Graduate school I began to work in private practice where I gained most of my knowledge and experience working with individuals who are looking to recover from trauma and decrease anxiety. I am trained in brainspotting and will be earning my certification in August 2024, as well as a Trauma Sensitive Yoga certification in September to better assist my clients in accessing a felt sense of safety in their bodies.
University of Texas at Arlington, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, 2015 — I earned my bachelors in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington. I was part of a behavioral lab where we studied the affects of social media on body image in young woman ages 10-18.
Work HistoryI worked in community mental health during my graduate training. I worked with children, teens and adults who were victims of crime and abuse. I also have experience in case management utilizing a holistic approach to client care. After graduating I began working in private practice doing behavioral health assessments for clients going through the immigration process with their family members. These assessments provided me with knowledge and skills to assess those with PTSD, anxiety and depressive symptoms as well as attachment wounds. I have also worked with teens and adults who struggle with these symptoms along with issues such as ADHD and performance anxiety. I work best with teens and young adults who feel their symptoms have caused them to feel like " the black sheep" not really feeling like they truly belong anywhere due to bicultural straddling, ADHD or simply marching to the beat of their own drum in a world where society tends to try to put people in a box. My clients appreciate that they are seen and accepted for who they are as a human being treatment tailored to their own unique experiences.
