It is my goal to keep sessions open and free flowing and to create a space where clients feel safe to express themselves without judgement. After just one session its my hope that clients feel like their experiences and feelings are valid, and that positive change is absolutely possible. I never want clients to feel like they need to become entirely different people, but to simply evolve into a healthier version of the person they already are. We'll identify strengths and resources in the very beginning of the process and draw on them often.
I believe getting to know and understand oneself is at the crux of improving our mental health and overall well-being. I often use motivational interviewing to help clients identify discrepancies between what they are seeking and what is currently happening. My style is eclectic and varies based on need but I often draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), emotion-focused therapy and mindfulness-based therapy.
