Education
Provident University, Master of Social Work, Social Work, 2019 — I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work, which provided me with a strong foundation in understanding mental health, human behavior, relationships, trauma, and the many life circumstances that can affect a person’s well-being. My education emphasized looking at the whole person and understanding how family, relationships, environment, and life experiences can influence mental health. I am also Board Certified in Christian Counseling, which allows me to incorporate Christian faith and biblical principles into counseling when desired by the client. I believe faith can be an important source of hope, strength, healing, and guidance for those who want it included in their counseling experience. My graduate education, professional experience, and continued training have strengthened my ability to support individuals, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, anger, grief, and major life transitions. I use practical, evidence-based approaches while tailoring counseling to each person's needs, values, and goals. I believe education provides an important foundation, but some of the most meaningful learning comes from listening to clients and understanding their individual experiences. I bring both my professional training and personal commitment to helping others into each counseling relationship.
Work HistoryOver the years, I have had the opportunity to work with people facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, anger, grief, substance use, housing instability, and major life transitions. My experience in outpatient counseling, crisis intervention, and community-based mental health has taught me that every person’s situation is different and that effective counseling needs to meet people where they are. Working in crisis services and with a Mobile Crisis Team has strengthened my ability to support people during some of the most difficult and overwhelming moments of their lives. These experiences have helped me develop a particular interest in helping people manage intense emotions, cope with trauma, work through difficult situations, and develop practical skills to move forward. My outpatient counseling experience has also allowed me to work with individuals, couples, and families on improving communication, strengthening relationships, managing anger, building healthier coping skills, and making meaningful changes. I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and other practical strategies based on each person's needs and goals. I also understand that seeking counseling can be difficult. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where clients can be honest about what they are experiencing. If faith is important to you, I am also open to incorporating Christian faith into counseling when requested.
