In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I do not allow my personal experiences to overshadow my skills and knowledge as an objective therapist when working with clients. Although I do approach therapy with my clients the same as I approach life and that is fully engaged and always looking to bring my best self to the experience while assisting my clients in reaching their goals and becoming their optimal selves.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
I believe trust and building a good rapport are key components of a therapeutic relationship. In therapy a client may feel vulnerable opening up and sharing personal life experiences but when trust and a good rapport have been established it can make the process easier.
What does a first session with you look like?
A first session with me would start with me asking you to tell me a little about yourself and what led you to to therapy and if there is anything you feel is important for me to know while working with you? Then I will follow up with questions that will give me a good sense of who you are? Your background? and what you are looking to accomplish in therapy.
