What does a first session with you look like?
The first session will be when building rapport will occur. This will be when the client will be able to provide background information, why they are seeking counseling, and what they hope to achieve from counseling.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
At the age of 18 year old, I had become a live in nanny for a set of 3 year old twins that were in the process of being adopted. They were being adopted due to their biological mother struggling with substance abuse to include using while pregnant. That is when my interests with psychology peaked. I later joined the Air Force, which had been another dream of mine. This afforded me to the ability to pay for college as well is develop a passion for treating veteran's, military members, and families.
What’s the most profound, insightful, or interesting thing you’ve learned as a mental health professional?
I have found that many individuals are not able to identify with their own resiliency.
