What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I love people and I love building relationships. I am passionate about helping people to understand how they have been impacted by past events and to feel empowered that change and healing is possible. I have always felt led to have grace with people whose behaviors are off-putting to others, because we all learn to survive the environment we were raised in and won't know a different way until they have a safe place to process. I love being that safe place for people.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I have struggled with anxiety and I have had to work through difficult childhood events. I know that healing is possible and that we can thrive in adulthood, no matter our past, as long as we have the right support.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I listen, and I also love to teach. I believe there is a time to listen and a time to provide psychoeducation. I find a balance between both.
