Work HistoryI’m Genesis Urena, LCSW — I founded and now serve as clinical director at New Hope Psychotherapy, and I also practice at Wellsprings Counseling Center (NJ). Over the years, my work has centered on walking with people through life’s hard moments — navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss, and transitions. I’ve working in diverse environments: supporting adolescents in urban settings, helping older adults wrestling with isolation, and assisting first-generation clients and professionals managing daily stress. I developed my deep focus in trauma work through advanced training (I’m EMDR-trained and CBT-C) and by partnering with clients whose stories challenged me to grow in my approach. I also lean on DBT tools and explore relational / psychodynamic methods, so I can respond to each person’s needs rather than force one method on everyone. I also bring special attention to burnout, career stress, and transitions — especially for people in ministry, high-stakes jobs, or identities that demand a lot from them.
