What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

We will focus on the problem(s) that bring you into counseling as well as how you experience your emotions, what you do with your emotions and how to understand yourself in deeper and meaningful ways. We do this by noticing what happens in your body to bring awareness of your feelings. We will process and link things together to understand its impact on the present conflicts and problems you are faced with. Along the way, I will help you see what you do with emotions instead of feeling them so that you can gain a sense of connection to yourself as you face your problems. I practice Intense Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (IS-TDP) and receive regular video review of my clinical work to make sure my psychological interventions work efficiently throughout the course of therapy. Most sessions are 45 minutes to 90 minutes and repeat weekly for 20-40 sessions for best results. In most cases I suggest we meet for 3 hours (180 minutes) for our first session so that we can learn quickly what your needs are and if you think we can work well together.

What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?

Successful therapy looks like complete resolution of current problems and restored satisfaction in the most meaningful areas of life: work, love, play and relationships. For couples, this often looks like having fun again and being able to navigate conflict in meaningful ways that creates connection instead of division.

Education

Master of Art Counseling, Phoenix Seminary, 2018, Master of Arts, Counseling, 2018

This degree focused on faith integration to the professional practice of counseling. I have education and supervision working with people seeking to work out their faith and feelings together in therapy. I also do not introduce themes of faith or spirituality unless asked for, and work with people of all faith and spiritual backgrounds.

Bachelor of Science Psychology with Emphasis Biblical Studies, Grand Canyon University, 2015, Bachelor of Science, Psychology, 2015

Work History

I help people make meaning of their emotions and know what’s holding them back from breaking through their problems. If you are in recovery (sex, love, alcohol, substance) or trying to get to recovery, I know the difficulty that staying clean and sober brings on relationships, work, and mental/emotional stress. I help people find and maintain their recovery by making meaning of deep and intense emotions to sustain recovery efforts. I am a Christian and have trained at a seminary, but I do not impose my spiritual or theological views on anyone. I like working with people who want to integrate their faith with their counseling to bring their faith and feelings together. If this not something you want to do, that is completely ok and I will not impose my views on anyone.
