Work HistoryI completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2005, upon completion I became an educator for NISD in San Antonio. I went on to obtain my Master of Arts in Counseling and became a Licensed Professional Counselor, NCC, in 2012.   Understanding the need to provide quality care to people in rural areas or with limited ability to travel, I began providing online therapy in 2016.  I completed training to become a Distance Credentialed Counselor in 2017 and became a Board Certified -TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH) in 2018.  My specializations, include but are not limited to: women's issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief/loss Trauma/PTSD, improving communication, career counseling & cross-cultural issues. I combine narrative therapy with ACT & CBT strategies with mindfulness training throughout treatment.  I provide services for adults and couples. Early in my career, I received in-depth, specialized counseling & advocacy training at Hays Caldwell County Women’s center. Here I counseled individuals who experienced physical, sexual and emotional abuse. I worked to encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss current and past events to help develop insight about themselves and their relationships. I also completed Advocacy training and provided clients with ways to identify types of abuse and ways to prevent future abuse. Additionally, I helped develop safety plans for victims of domestic violence and their families. I served as an on call member of the Hospital Emergency Advocate Response Team (HEART) and provided coverage for Helpline calls for individuals seeking services for counseling or shelter and conducted crisis intervention. I co-facilitated a women’s support group at the onsite Women’s Shelter and a Dialectical Behavior Therapy group for clients. Most importantly, I discovered my niche & love of empowering others to find peace & freedom from unhealthy relationships.     During my internship, I worked under the supervision of a doctor of psychology, Dr. Javier Villanueva and provided counseling for adults with disabilities; past history of abuse; grief and loss; anxiety and depression; general life struggles and/or transitions. Additionally, I conducted diagnostic assessments for people applying for disability through DARS.
