What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?

It is often hard to acknowledge when you need help and support. Sharing your thoughts, feelings and problems can be difficult when you are feeling vulnerable. My role is to guide you through this challenging time by providing you with a sense of safety in a warm accepting atmosphere; to help you navigate your thoughts and feelings to process your experience. I believe establishing this safe space, free of judgement is the most important piece in building a strong therapeutic alliance.

What does a first session with you look like?

Each person's journey and process is different. I tailor my treatment to the individual needs of my client. During our first session, we will explore your reasons for seeking help and I will work with you to establish goals for therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I have an eclectic and holistic approach to therapy. I do not look at my clients through a clinical lens, with the assumption that something needs to be fixed. Rather, I will help you identify your strengths that are difficult to see when you are hurting. One of my favorite analogies to the therapeutic process is, a counselor is like a lighthouse. I am merely there to help you find your way back to the shore. I will help you see that you are in control and empower you to break free from whatever might be holding you back. I will be there to help you see that the rocky waters will not last forever. As your therapist I will work to help you identify alternative ways to cope, process your emotions, challenge unhealthy thinking patterns or behaviors and help establish meaningful goals to improve your life. Most importantly, I will guide you towards finding balance and a sense of peace.
