I use a client centered and strengths based approach to determine therapy goals with a client. I involve the client and expect that goals are created based on what my clients would like to achieve and not what I think they should achieve.
Depression often causes people to feel sad, empty, or hopeless, and can cause a lack of interest in life. It can also affect a person's thinking patterns and physical health.
Anxiety can mean nervousness, worry, or self-doubt. Anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder that entails excessive, repeated bouts of worry, anxiety, and/or fear.
Refers relationship issues with a partner or spouse. Can include issues related to relationship distress, relationship satisfaction, communication, intimacy, etc.
Grief is a reaction to an emotionally significant loss and often comes with symptoms of depression or anxiety. These symptoms can remain intense and last for a long time after a loss, making it difficult to move forward with a healthy lifestyle.
Trauma is the result of experiencing a perceived, extremely distressful event. Although the stress threshold for each person differs, meaning that each person considers and experiences trauma differently, it is an event that tops one’s threshold. It exceeds one’s ability to cope or emotionally process. Symptoms may include shock, anxiety, confusion, hopelessness, feeling disconnected, mood swings, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts.
Workplace issues are a common source of stress and can include interpersonal conflict, communication problems, gossip, harassment, discrimination, low motivation and job satisfaction, performance issues, and poor job fit.
Self-esteem is the degree to which a person feels confident, valuable, and worthy of respect. Feeling low self-esteem can influence overall well-being and be linked to anxiety and/or depression.

Sexuality refers to habits and preferences in terms of sexual behavior, which people express in many ways. Issues in this area may be related to confusion or distress about sexuality or sexual identity.
Social anxiety or social phobia is fear of social situations or a fear of interacting with people other than close friends and family. Social anxiety can be persistent, intense, and debilitating, greatly affecting daily life.
Regular involvement with a substance or activity in a compulsive, hard to control way that often has harmful consequences. Often refers to substance use, but can include compulsive behaviors such as sex, gambling, or shopping.

I am a trauma informed therapist for the states of AZ, IL. and NV. I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults. I have experience with a wide variety of populations from victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence to the those struggling with substance use disorders and severe mental health conditions. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I am also certified to provide Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents with Chronic Stress (SPARCS). I spent a number of years facilitating individual, group and family sessions for children, teens, and adults with severe emotional and behavioral disturbances. I was proud to be promoted to work as a supervisor for a number of years after that, however, I realized one thing was missing- the ability to observe the progress of my clients as I was no longer providing direct care. I eventually returned to my passion, although this time, I began working with adults with co-occurring disorders. I have recently began working with all adolescent and teen populations, however, my primary focus is typically trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety. I like to create a safe space for healing. I use techniques such as mindfulness, grounding, meditation, deep breathing and a variety of additional CBT techniques to help my clients manage depression and anxiety in healthy ways. As a practitioner who once suffered from anxiety, I am able to provide clients with hope that these techniques are effective and if used consistently and correctly, can improve functioning to complete daily tasks either without the interference of mental health issues or with reduced symptoms. I enjoy working with individuals to achieve their therapy goals as it is rewarding to see progress clients have made and how empowered they feel as they work towards achieving their goals. Whether providing therapy online or in a client facing sessions, my goal is to help my clients manage difficult life circumstances that may come along or to cope with mental health conditions that may have already been present or are emerging.
