What does a first session with you look like?
I do not believe in a one size fits all method. In order to get the best out of your therapeutic experience it is crucial that the therapist/client relationship is solidified. That begins in the first session, building rapport is important and I like to utilize the first session by getting to know my client more in depth. I thoroughly explain my methods and my therapeutic approach. I like to check in with my client prior to them leaving the first session to gather any closing thoughts.
In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?
I believe that everyone should feel as though they are the CEO's of their own life. I am a CBT therapist and I help my clients challenge there negative thought patterns. Together my client and I examine the evidence of their negative thoughts to create and healthier you. I practice what I preach and I believe it is crucial for individuals to feel as though they own their own life. I practice and preach self care and mindfulness to become more aware of any negative thought patterns and I carry that over into my treatment. Together we work on implementing healthy coping skills to decrease and hopefully eliminate these negative thoughts.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Something important to know about me is that like you, I too am human. I feel and think and experience life in many different forms. The sessions are always about the client, but it's important to know that I take a non-judgmental approach and I enjoy working in this field because it allows me to empathize with other's on another level. I will always go at the client's pace within reason, I believe my job is to not only provide support but to push my client's to becoming the best versions of themselves (whatever they believe that is).
