Monica M. Rivera-PinaLPC
As said before I use a holistic, eclectic approach with my clients. Depending on the issue and the client, my treatment methods are geared toward the client's issue and how best to help the client reach the goals established in session. Many of the therapeutic modalities I tend to find more success often are the following: Behavioral therapy Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) Biofeedback Humanistic/Rogerian Therapy Narrative Therapy Motivational Interviewing Desensitization EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing-for Trauma) Mindfulness Exercises that include daily journaling with Yoga
In our first session we will spend that time mainly in getting to know each other. I want you to feel our sessions are safe, non-judgmental and genuine. EVERYTHING we discuss in session is confidential, so there will be a few questions from me but only what helps me to get to know you. Those questions are what we call the "intake questions", so I can have an idea of what your world is like. All those questions help us both build a therapeutic relationship that is respectful, professional, without biasness, and empathetic. Some of my questions include your family at home, what your childhood was like, your job relationships, any romantic relationships at the moment, who you are close to in the family, as well as friends you currently have. All of which to have a picture of your world.
