In our first session, we will talk about you and your life. We will identify the things and times in your life when you were the happiest and we will contrast those times with present feelings. I believe in the power of positive thinking. I have been successful with clients who are depressed and anxious because they are going to make a change. When you finish your therapy, you will see change as an opportunity, not as a dreaded, fearful experience. You will see change as I do, one of life’s opportunities you don’t want to miss out on. You will have a vision of a better life and you will have the tools to make it a reality.
As any good counselor, I use active listening to capture the important issues at hand. I also am compassionate and a partner to help you build a better future. CBT is the therapy I use most often. It involves using logic and doing homework assignments to learn to choose to be a positive thinker and not a negative thinker. You will learn to find something good in every day. Sometimes I use "the empty chair" a Gestalt therapy intervention that helps the client see another view separate from his/her own. I use Positive Psychology to teach clients to see the good in every day. This can change a person's life for the better. I use brief therapy to identify what worked in the past and adapt it to the current situation.
