What are your biggest strengths as a therapist?

Clients come to me looking for someone who “gets” what it’s like to struggle with a medical issue. Therapy should be a validating place where you feel understood. Sessions involve talking and learning coping skills—at your pace, as you feel comfortable. Together, we will get you to a place where you can live the meaningful life you deserve.

What does a first session with you look like?

As a cancer survivor, I understand how difficult it can be to cope with medical trauma and uncertainty. I’m here to offer support, tools and strategies aimed at helping you feel less alone, more resilient and hopeful about the future. First, we will examine what is causing the overwhelm and sadness you are struggling with. Then, we will work on the self-advocacy skills, behavior changes and/or anxiety management tools that will be most effective for you. Through our work together, you’ll feel empowered by these skills so you can live the meaningful life that you deserve.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am committed to continuously improving my skills as a mental health therapist, especially expanding the techniques I can offer to my clients. This includes becoming an advanced practitioner in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART allows you to replace negative images with positive ones, removing your triggers. Through ART, you can leave your mental health symptoms behind and find peace. Clients often report that they experience a shift in perspective during ART sessions. After a session, many feel as though a weight has been lifted off their shoulders. I am also trained in several other techniques and can incorporate them based on your unique needs and goals.

Work History

My fascination with the connection between psychology and health led me to focus my graduate studies on the psychosocial aspects of mental health and aging. After graduating with my MSW in 2011, I worked as a social worker for over a decade in medical settings. I've also had the privilege of working extensively with clients who are coping with significant life changes, such as a cancer diagnosis, chronic illness or medical trauma. I also work with caregivers who are struggling to juggle it all while caring for a loved one with a difficult medical diagnosis. I am happy that my path has brought me to serving individuals like you today.
