What does a first session with you look like?

After your first session with me, I will talk about counseling expectations in general such as confidentiality and cancellation notice needed as well as policies specific to my practice to include reasonable expectations of counseling and to address any concerns or questions you have about counseling. After you have been coming for a while, you can expect that you will have spent time reflecting on different facets of your experience and will have gained more insight. Over time as you gain more insight, you will find that you will be "stuck" on those thoughts less until you don't remember when you last thought about XYZ. ** You can call or email our front desk if you have any questions before setting an appointment, or you can book from my availability in my synced calendar.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I use "evidence-based techniques" that have been found in research to be helpful. This is important because it keeps our profession accountable and restricted from using under-researched techniques that may cause harm because they are unreliable, invalid, or not well understood. - Solution-Focused Therapy - a short-term cognitive technique that is focused on solutions and designed to challenge problematic habitual thought processes - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - explains how thoughts connect to feelings which connect to behaviors and if you change your thoughts you can change your feelings and your behavior - Dialectical Behavioral Therapy - enhances mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation - Enhance Attachment security - Narrative therapy - Bibliotherapy - Neurotherapy
