If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?
The movie, The Antwon Fisher Story, is a profound display of the powerful impact that a therapist could make on a persons life. It taught that you can grow through dealing with answers about your life even if they are not the answers you hoped to find. This movie has influenced my approach to therapy in that I help clients to find the courage to learn about and better understand themselves and their past.
What does a first session with you look like?
During the first session, the client has the opportunity to provide me with background and assessment information so that we can together develop a treatment plan that includes goals and action steps to work toward becoming their best self. A rapport is established and expectations are acknowledged.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is to start where the clients are and help them get where they want to be.
