What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

I personally since being a young child have had situations that affected me as an individual and within my family that could have benefitted greatly from mental health supports and interventions. I have seen lots of trauma, witnessed it myself and vicariously, and dealt with various grief/loss of loved ones due to addiction/substance issues. I have always had a passion to help others to be heard and understood, validated, and emotionally supported, as for so long my family and loved ones struggled with this. I want early interventions and supports to be out there so young teens and adults can develop into more positive mental health spaces as they grow and develop.
